Company Co-owner
Elissa VanBarneveld-Brown
Hi, I’m Elissa! I’m a co-owner of the company and have spent over 30 years supporting individuals and families in the disability community. Much of my career was spent working for an organization that provided comprehensive support for children, youth, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with a strong focus on inclusion, empowerment, and helping people live meaningful lives. Later in my career, I worked supporting individuals living with brain injuries, helping them manage daily life and maintain as much independence as possible. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I’m known for being calm under pressure and for being a strong advocate for the people I support. I’m reliable, dedicated, and approach my work with warmth and empathy. A meaningful part of my story is that this work is not only professional for me, it’s also personal. Three of my children live with a rare disability, and one of them later acquired a brain injury that affected impulse control. Because of this, I’ve spent many years advocating for my children in medical appointments, schools, and other systems. These experiences have shown me firsthand how important the right support can be, and they are a big part of why this work is such a passion for me.

Company Co-owner
Candace McGuirk
Hi, I’m Candace! I’m a co-owner of the company and have spent the past 30 years working with seniors, a journey that began when I was still in high school. From the very beginning, seeing the warmth and smiles on my clients’ faces was the highlight of my day, and it inspired me to always do my best to ensure they felt comfortable, respected, and well cared for. Over the years, I transitioned into providing one-on-one care, including palliative care, where I often spent extended periods of time supporting clients and their families. This experience allowed me to build strong, meaningful connections while helping people feel safe and supported during some of the most important moments of their lives. I’m known for being dedicated, hardworking, flexible, patient, and compassionate. I always make it a priority to truly listen to my clients so they feel heard, valued, and respected. A fun fact about me is that my sister, who I run this company with, is also my best friend. My passion for this field comes from seeing firsthand how important quality care is. I’ve also seen what happens when people don’t receive the care they deserve, and it has strengthened my belief that everyone should be treated with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

Company Co-owner
Caressa Brown
Hi, I’m Caressa! I’m a co-owner of the company and I’m passionate about supporting individuals of all ages and abilities. I hold diplomas as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapy Assistant, Recreation and Leisure and Communication Disorders Assistant. For the past five years, I’ve worked closely with seniors as a recreationist and respite provider, supporting individuals in staying engaged, independent, and connected in their daily lives. I have also spent the past eight years working with children in a variety of roles, including as a daycare assistant and as a Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant in multidisciplinary clinics. Most recently, I’ve been working as a Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) under a BCBA. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many different populations, including individuals with autism, physical disabilities, dementia, and other diverse needs. I’m very people-oriented and bring a bubbly, empathetic energy to my work. I love collaborating with families and care teams, thinking creatively, and adapting to find solutions that truly support each person. A fun fact about me is that I also live with an invisible disability. Because of this, I’ve experienced the healthcare system as both a provider and a patient, which has given me a deeper understanding of how important these services are and how vital it is to respect each client’s autonomy and voice.

Hi, I’m Jessica! I have many years of experience supporting both children and seniors, and I truly enjoy helping individuals thrive in their homes, whether independently or alongside their families. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is getting to know the people I support and helping them maintain their comfort, independence, and dignity in the place they love most, their home. It also means a lot to me when families are able to step back from the full-time caregiving role and return to simply being family again, knowing their loved one is well cared for. I really value the relationships that develop through this work. Many of the people I support enjoy sharing their life stories and experiences, and I love learning from them, whether it's cooking from their recipe books, picking up gardening tips, or hearing about their journeys through life and the lessons they've learned along the way. A fun fact about me is that I grew up on a sheep, cattle, and heavy horse farm in Markdale. Because of that, I often connect with clients through conversations about “the good old days,” and those shared memories help create meaningful bonds. I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such an amazing team and to learn from the wonderful people I have the privilege of supporting every day.

Hi, I’m Carrie! I enjoy caregiving because it allows me to bring compassion, dignity, and dependable support to the people I work with. Being someone others can rely on and trust during important moments in their lives is something I value deeply. I have been working with seniors for over a decade, and during that time I’ve learned how important it is for individuals to feel respected, heard, and supported in their daily lives. I take pride in helping those I support maintain their comfort, independence, and dignity. For me, caregiving has always been more than just a job. In fact, I was a caregiver long before it became part of my profession. Supporting others and being there when someone needs help has always been a natural part of who I am. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply being present, I strive to create a warm and supportive environment for the individuals and families I work with. I’m grateful to be part of a team that shares the same commitment to kindness, compassion, and quality care.

Hi, I’m Doris! I have been working in the care and support field since 1978, and throughout the years I’ve had the privilege of supporting people of all ages. Early in my career, I worked with a Community Living agency supporting individuals with special needs. I later spent time working with families through an EarlyON Centre, helping create supportive environments for children and their families. In more recent years, I have focused on supporting seniors, including individuals living with dementia and those recovering from strokes. What I love most about this work is connecting with people and helping them feel valued and respected. My personal motto is to make people feel special and to care for them where they are in life, supporting them with compassion rather than trying to control their journey. A fun fact about me is that family is a very important part of my life. I am a proud mother of four children, two of whom are owners of this business, and a loving Oma to sixteen grandchildren, one of whom is also an owner of the company, as well as three wonderful great-grandchildren. I truly enjoy working with people and feel grateful to continue doing work that brings connection, kindness, and care to others.
